>I disagree, this is the only way I'll even drink coffee. I control the bean selection-- the bean vendor, the roast, the freshness (you can buy just roasted beans at many coffee shops). You control how it's stored (airtight container, don't be some in the bag faggot). You control the coarseness or fineness of the grind. You control the amount of beans used. I prefer a lot of dark roast, somewhat oily beans coarsely ground.

You control the water temperature and the rate of the pour. I prefer about 207F, basically boil, then let kettle sit on the granite countertop for about a minute and a half. I prefer a trickle that moves all over the bean surface. I also prefer unbleached filters.

Instead of brewing into glass, I prefer going into a vacuum insulated thermos so it stays hot for about two hours. I taste it when it's about two inches to the top. If it's too strong and is giving me a pants shitting vibe, I fill to the top with the hot water and give it a shake.

How anyone can drink the absolute horseshit that machines produce or overly strong espresso is beyond me. For me the ideal coffee experience is taking your sweet fucking time for an hour in the morning with a large supply of piping hot great coffee brewed to your exact preferences while you read the news and check out how your shit is looking when the market opens. Don't get me wrong, I grew up drinking Folgers from a machine, but when traveling my gf at the time dragged me into some faggot hipster coffee place and ordered me a pourover. It was the best coffee I'd ever had so I became a hipster coffee faggot myself after that. Took me years to figure out my favorite setup but I stuck with it.
