>Fruit tastes best when technically overripe
it also becomes more bioavailable, i grew a purple one it took over my clothe line post and you're right but they need tio be ripened on the plant which just isn't something you're going to get in a grocery store.

i wound up planting way too many banana peppers so i had to pickle them, pretty good on sandwiches and even on pizza but i am getting tired of them. Also dragon fruit don't taste nearly as good as they look

its a cactus that grows a one stalk up then a bunch of stalks pop out at the top like dreadlocks, growing them from seed takes awhile because they stay tiny forever, vt once the kick in and get big you'll have fruit within a year . They are a perennial so you'll keep getting fruit every year. I'm in northern FL but they seem to handle the cold because we had a couple hard freezes and it didn't affect them
