I know this isn't really a /ck/ thread, I posted it on /adv/ as well, but please mods have mercy, /ck/ is by far the board with the highest concentration of alcoholics.
I have some questions about delirium tremens, if anybody here has experience with it. I'm a regular drinker and periodically drink very heavily. I rarely go longer than a few days without drinking, but I don't always drink a lot. At my worst I'll drink two thirds of a quart of whiskey, plus beers. That's at my worst though, which is rare. Usually I'll just have four-six beers, which is still above the recommended daily amount. I've never experienced proper physical withdrawal symptoms, but I have had strong cravings when stopping for an extended period of time. Could I be at risk for getting DTs if I stop drinking alltogether? I'm not looking to stop drinking, but I don't want to drive myself into a corner where my body can't stop. I realize I have a drinking problem but I have it under control, and it's only really there when nothing is going on in my life (which is most of the time), when I'm busy with something or have an engaging everyday life I feel fine not drinking, but it's been a while since this has

So I'm new to beer. I've only ever had whisky and rum before. Can you guys give me a crash course on popular and good brands, what's good and cheap, etc?
