Not usually. Only eat chips when someone shares them with me. Don't buy them myself. Prefer peanuts as a snack.

They're best for when you have food size concerns but still need calories. It's why they are usually in trail mix, since hikers like bringing them along for the energy in a small package.
They aren't unhealthy unless you eat too many, same could be said for any food.

Are you sure it wasn't an artificial coating of some kind? They make peanuts covered in sugar or honey crystals. Those long sleeve bags are common in dollar stores and some gas stations still.

Nuts. Make as many jokes as you want, they're too good to give up. I buy the mixed variety that come in the plastic containers. Couple handfuls a day, also sometimes splurge and buy some macadamia's but they're a bit top shelf for general eating.

Make sure there isn't anything wrong with you. Increased water intake can sometimes mean liver problems.

I don't think you can beat the humble walnut.
