Entirely overused in western cuisine currently. Not even 50 years or so ago you only found garlic in Southern European cooking and now its in FUCKING EVERYTHING. Garlic is so overpowering and forward in flavor it can easily become a crutch and fuck up any nuance you had going.
Don't get me wrong I like garlic well enough where its needed, but that's pretty much limited to Italian or Eastern cuisine and its a fucking sin in my house to mix garlic with beef and ruin the flavor.
