As a Northern European, it's pretty great to go to the store and buy some quality sweets. We have some great brands that make amazing candy. I always took it for granted, but when I started to notice the absolute difference in most other imported goods, I began to wonder: why are most of the sweets made in the States so sugary and industrial ("fake") tasting? Take Oreo for example. Americans love it and I think it tastes alright, but I think it pales in comparison to our Domino biscuits in my opinion. Too sweet and doesn't even taste like a real biscuit. Same with Milka chocolate (I know Milka is German but I felt like including it to make my point easier to understand), it's just way too sugary. I do like to eat some imported sweets from time to time but not very often because of their overt sweetness. Such products would be Twix, Mars or M&M's to name a few.
I'm sorry in advance if I come across as ignorant or haughty or the like, these are just my personal experiences, many of my friends share my opinion on this.

Am I just picky or is it just an acquired taste or something? Does the candy we eat here taste like shit to Americans? Anybody that's eaten sweets from around the world that could share their thoughts on this?
