/ck/ - Food & Cooking

So I've got to cook a bunch of deserts for some friends of mine tomorrow but I'm not really sure what would be good options.
What deserts would you co/ck/s cook if you were catering to five or six friends? I'm thinking of some Turkish delights but not sure.

I'm a Uni student who dishwashes Monday, Friday, Saturday nights. For lunch, I usually get an instant noodle thing, I should probably eat something better since I have plenty of money, but I don't get to cook as often as I used to.

As far as dishwashing goes, its exactly what you would expect, but as other anons said, its worth it if the crew is good to you. I could have taken a bar backing job at one of the super busy college kid bars, but I don't want to leave this kitchen.

so, whenever I make pizza dough (with bread flour), my dough never doubles in size. I think the water I use is too hot and it kills the yeast. Can somebody give me a good rule of thumb for water heat?

Also, if I put my pizza dough in a bowl, do I need to cover tightly with plastic wrap or is a towel enough?

I tried to make chili using tomato soup as the base. I bought the family sized can and forgot it was condensed.

I really think its just one dude who's been pretty awful lately. I guess he thinks acting like his main board is acceptable here.
