I do not put milk, cream or sugar in my coffee. I do not buy specialty brands. I do not believe that coffee should taste good. I believe that coffee should be a challenge. When I wake up in the morning, I consider a large mug of extra strong black coffee to be the first challenge of the day. After I've conquered this challenge, my mindset shifts: with one challenge down, there is an entire day's worth of challenges before me. I must conquer them all. It is when I down a mug of coffee that I answer the constant question: am I to be a wolf or a sheep?
