Bill worked in a pickle factory. He had been employed there for a number of years when he came home one day to confess to his wife that he had a terrible compulsion. He had an urge to stick his penis into the pickle slicer. His wife suggested that he should see a sex therapist to talk about it, but Bill indicated that he'd be too embarrassed. My neighbor gave me the recipe and she called them "sunshine pickles." Both she and her husband since have died and my wife calls them "Helen's Pickles."

But to reiterate: 24 hours outside (turn the gallon jar upside down) and then 3-4 days on the counter to ferment. Also I put in 3-4 cloves of garlic and a ton of dill.

One last note: it should be hot outside. This doesn't work in September.
