I grew up in Vietnam, 28 years and only ONCE I managed to eat truly excellent Dragon Fruit, it was from the red variant.
But for that one time, it was the best, the absolute-fucking best sweet-tasting fruit I had ever eaten. I'm not talking about sweet but bland, I'm talking about very sweet, juicy, a very slight hint of tang, full of aroma.
So as you can see, even us natives have a hard time finding truly great ones, I mean, on average, it's a great fruit, lightly sweet and sour, juicy, but damn I'm willing to pay $20 just to have one single bite of that perfect Dragon Fruit again.

Thanks, I will try to rekindle it. It kind of got kicked onto the back burner after I changed academic tracks. I ended up choosing to go into healthcare. Hopefully I should soon be making good money (so I can buy all the tea) but the schooling has sucked a lot out of me and yet I still feel woefully under qualified. To tie this back into /tea/ I picked up "serious" tea drinking as a hobby partially because I wanted something low commitment to do while I was burned out by school. I long had a passing interest in tea but perhaps I would never have ended up really "getting into it" or finding my way here to /tea/ were it not for my change in career path. Funny how things work out like. So many possibilities.

Sounds like a cool protect. I would love to see it if you do. I know there are PDFs for a number of good tea books floating around. I have actually been considering putting together a semi-comprehensive tea vendor database and maybe a beginners guide to tea vendors myself. Both of which would also be a ways off if they were to happen. Heck maybe I will even try to enter the YS art contest next year if find some inspiration. I am not an artist by any stretch but the bar for an honorable mention seems attainably low with some patience.

Does anyone else get the impression they are just fucking us at this point? Sometime around 2020 it just seems like the whole of mass culture is about pacifying the people. Entertainment is juvenile and pandering to nostalgia . Politics has no substance even though things are more devisive and things are the world is more volatile than ever and its just innane culture wars. Food is just literal piles of salt, sugar, fat and meat, they don't even try anymore.

Where did it all go wrong, bros? Back in 2012 there felt like there was so much potential for the future. I felt hope and like things could get better. I look at this pile of meat and cheese and I feel the last of my hope die.
