My old roommate used to bake chickpeas as a snack and they turn out quite crunchy and keep for a few days. Stupidly simple.

1 Can Chickpeas.
Drain liquid, toss in some olive oil, salt, pepper and a lil cayenne/paprika.
Spread onto a baking sheet
I don't remember the exact time temp but it was something like 350F for 45m. Should be easy to look up.

Rinse. Soak, drain, soak, drain. Cook until just barely done and fluff. Cook in seasoned saffron water for an extra flavorful an aromatic rice.

Cooking shouldn't take very long, you should be rehydrating your rice first. In the case of basmati, you're not looking for sticky rice, so rinsing the seeds is important. Fluffing the long strands of basmati seeds gives them the special desired volume and texture.
