I strain my used oil to use two or three more times. Afterward, I put used oil along with bacon grease in a wide-mouth jar and store that in my freezer until it's full enough to be tossed in the trash.

I pour my grease in a wide-mouth jar that's kept in the freezer. When the jar is full, it goes in the trash.
