i agree that i generally like it but i wouldn't call it a sting by any means unless it gets in a cut

the wasabi at sushi places in the US is often just horseradish that's been dyed green because wasabi is a fickle, expensive crop

still don't know how you have more of a reaction to oranges than pineapples though
