Scallops. Get yourself some scallops. They are impressive but they are also incredibly easy. Here's what you do.

>Buy the scallops.
>Clean them. Rinse under cool water.
>Scallops sometime have a 'side muscle'. The side-muscle is a little rectangular tag of tissue on the side of the scallop. t feels tougher than the rest of the scallop and its muscle fibers run opposite the fibers in the scallop itself. Just pinch it between your thumb and first-finger, and tear it away. After you rinse the scallops, pat them dry.

>Salt and pepper your scallops.
>Get a pan. Add about 2 tsp of butter and 2 tsp of olive oil. Heat that stuff on high heat while stirring it up to get the butter all melted.
>Once it's nice and hot, add the scallops. Make sure the scallops aren't touching. Sear the scallops for about 1 1/2 minutes on each side.

That is literally it. Boom, you have seared scallops. Serve with a simple side salad and baked potato. Scallops are the easiest thing on the planet but people go gaga over them.
