You can find these and the older vintage ones with glass pitchers all day long at thrift stores for $5-$20. They have a rugged drive coupling and are pretty much backwards compatible. They break down very easily for cleaning too so you don't have an old stinking pitcher.

It actually creates a pretty powerful vortex. Much better than the stock chopper blades.
