Putting a tip jar on the counter hits that part of a customer's brain that tells them "If I don't give this faggot a dollar, he's going to shit in my food next time I come here." To add onto that anxiety, their $3 burger now costs $4, so they start to think "Well now that $3.50 burger at jack-in-the-box doesn't sound so bad..."

Now the customers are fucking off to greener pastures where they don't get guilted by your eyes darting between them and the tip jar. Your tips start drying up, the restaurant's making less money, and they can no longer justify as much kitchen staff as they used to. They fire a somebody (who is now making NO money thanks to your fucking retarded tip idea) and now you retards have to pick up the slack because you thought you knew consumer trends better than the executives who dictate corporate policy.
