people genuinely want less options. if you're given the choice between 3 flavors of ice cream, or 50, you'll be happier with your choice when there's only 3. If there's too many choices, you feel like you're missing out.

Not to mention, this will greatly reduce the amount of time people will spend "can I get uhhhhhhhhhhhhh" at the drive thru window, making them able to shove people through quicker. There's no real reason to take like half these items off the menu since they're made using the same ingredients as a fucking soft taco, but seriously psychology plays a big role here.
