The funny thing is that many people in Europe and Asia don't even bother to have correct pronunciations of foreign words. The obsession over having an "authentic" foreign pronunciation is mostly an American phenomenon.

WHY? It's the "stupid American" complex. So many people in Europe and Asia perpetuate the stereotype that most Americans are fat, stupid, and can't even locate their own country on the map that many Americans are obsessed over trying to disprove the stereotype and impress foreigners by trying too hard to have an "authentic" pronunciation.
