Its the original kickstarter burrs people had an issue with. They had big vertical "teeth" forcing a gap at "0". Fixed in the 1.1 and completely changed in the ode 2 burrs.

Those aren't the gen1 burrs he's talking about. He's showing the original kickstarter burrs, they updated to "gen1" after initial complaints. Gen 1 doesn't have those big vertical teeth anymore, letting you go down finer.
