Fresh crumpets are damn comfy too.
Now that I found out just how easy clotted cream is to make, warm crumpets, some good preserves and clotted dream are just...I'm going to sound faggy, but.. Decadent.

It means Cooked to just before completion. Those semi-raw loaves of bread are meant to finish in a 385° F oven for 8-15 minutes so you can have fresh bread in half to ¼ the time.
Same with par-boiled rice.
In short, It's a gimmick. You pay MORE for the same shit, but much like the addition of an egg to a boxed cake mix, the CONSOOOMER feels like they actually did something.
I've purchased a 2 pk. of Italian loaves once when they were on discount for maybe $1.50 to make french bread pidzers out of... NOT worth it.
It's getting harder and harder to find standard bread and buns that haven't been pozzed with all manner of fillers and additives.
I haven't purchased bread more than 4 times this year. Just one day out of the week and 2 hours of actual work will give you the best quality bread for pennies.
>Crumpets are ~$6/package
>Wonder how hard can they be?
>find good YT vid--OH SHIDDD!! They're easier than bread even!

It was amazing.
Simple organic ingredients, took about a half hour total.
I'm going to have to make up another batch.
Couldn't get authentic bangers, so I went with mild Italian sausage. was still good.
My mother was a good cook, and baker--she showed me how to make Yorkshire pudding when I was 10.
I'm going to have to make mushy peas next.

Thanks for the assist anon..
It's hard enough to try to convince the rest of the world that ALL Amerifats aren't retarded.
They do have a decided advantage, however with not having NEARLY as many carcinogenic "FOood Additives" in their fodder.

Thanks for the pic Opie.
yeah, try the wash.
The loaves I posted were butter brushed, a lot of dutch oven bakers swear by them since they trap the steam for much of the baking. Then they leave the top off to finish.
a good olive oil or other not-sneed would be good too.
Don't give up--plenty of good videos to help you expand your expertise, and by the time you've baked your 100th loaf/batch, you'll be able to do it from feel alone.
Look into bakers percentages. it's not rocket surgery and you'll up your game considerably.
