Anyone else have shit-tier home cooking for their entire young life?

>be me, as a kid
>have stay-at-home mom, and dad who works
>mom does laundry, cleans up the house, and makes dinner
>dinner is a rotation of frozen chicken nuggets, plain spaghetti, canned soup, microwave pizza, kraft mac n cheese, etc etc
>sometimes dad brought home steak, but my parents always made it super well done because they thought you would literally die if you ate a steak with a little bit of pink
>the only reprieve is when sometimes in the summer my dad grilled hot dogs
>he made burgers too, but they were always solid hockey pucks with no flavor
>I thought I hated hamburgers until I was 12 years old, when I had one in a diner and found out that they're actually supposed to taste good

>Living in my own place, no meal plan
>buy some groceries in bulk
>spend 5 minutes on youtube learning how to cook chicken and pasta
>actually season the chicken and pasta
>it tastes better than anything I had in 20 years of living at my childhood home
>continue trying out new foods and recipes
>eventually go home for Christmas break
>try to cook for my family
>Parents think I'll burn the house down trying to use the oven

For the record I love my parents to death, but god damn is their effort lacking in the kitchen. If my main job for 18+ years was to make dinner for my family I'd do all I could to be the best chef possible.

Anyone else have similar experiences?
