For more info on Baten Kaitos, the world has a system where people can magically transform items into cards to make them easier to carry around. So in-game there's loads of awesome looking food cards you can get for your characters and they'll even change over time like getting rotten or aging into new items. If they go bad they can even be used as weapons against enemies to give them food poisoning.
