it's also the fact that if you have any kind of important job, it pretty much consumes your life. getting to/from your job, plus working, basically eats up the entire day for most professionals. if you live in a big metro area, 1.5 hr commute each way isn't uncommon.

you basically need to be in a sports league or have a gym membership and go 3-4x per week if you want to stay fit. daily work life and commute for most people isn't enough to maintain any level of fitness.

also it gets even harder if you add alcohol into the mix. tons of young professionals wind up getting fat and out of shape because of after work drinking.
