You have to learn to improvise, get yer ass a Betty Crocker cuckbook. My mom gave me her old one when I got my first place and was on my own for the first time.

You can get a whole set of cookware at a dollar store for about $15, I'm not saying do that, but it'll give you different stuff, just remember to use wood utensils on those because they scratch easily. Also if you have birds don't leave them hot because the fumes kill birds real easy.

There's something nice about having recipe written down and in a book, plus you can mark pages, make notes on them etc. Plus who wants their computer in the kitchen where it could be damaged or get hot oil on it?

Spiral bound is useful too.

This is first one I was given by my mom when I got my first apartment, the 11th edition is spiral bound so it'll sit easily without closing. Some book closing on me when I'm reading it and my hands are occupied with food can be seriously annoying.
