Easier to maintain than cast iron, but not than stainless.

I see small versions of these go on sale pretty often - Le Creuset 2.75 qt "shallow, wide" Dutch oven for $150, for example. Is there any reason to own one so small? I guess you can still brown meat in it and then add soup ingredients to make less soup than in a 5 quart DO, but how often do you actually go to the trouble of making chili but only make a half batch?

Do you have a dutch oven? Are there any dishes you make with it that you couldn't make (or couldn't as easily) as with a regular soup pot? What are they? What size DO do you like best?

I'm organizing my kitchen right now, and thinking about setting aside some cabinet space for one that I might pick up next time they go on sale. I hear they're good for gumbo and broiled chicken, but not really sure why I couldn't get by with other cookware I have.
