If you have no one to impress and you want something light why not just go to pic related, get two delicious curries over rice in a bowl for $4, then go bar hopping on the LES/EV with the money you saved?

Where I live Punjabi cabbie stands offer the cheapest and most delicious of foods. Pic related.

>The only people who eat at those places are, Mexicans, Cubans and Pakistani people.
Totally not true. Pic related in the EV is always delicious and cheap. And while cabbies are most of the customers musicians, vegetarians and drunks are well represented. Been eating there for over a decade and never got food poisoning.

>i diners are AMAZING
Not so many amazing ones lift in NYC. Yeah, Joe Junior still makes a great burger. But most diners left pretty much cater to old people who are scared of flavor and any menu item that would not have been familiar in 1975. They are generally not amazing, I'm sad to say.

>What are your top 3 favorite restaurant/fast food joints?
Pic related is #1. No joke. Super cheap, super tasty and open 24h.

#2 is probably Tacos El Bronco, a truck parked on 5th Ave in South Brooklyn. Their food is amazing.

Probably my third fave is Ba Xuyen; epic banh mi a stone's throw from where I live.

Gonna have to try them. But they'd have to be really good (and cheap) to sway my primary loyalty from my fave vegetarian Sikh cabbie stand (pic related). Gonna have dinner there tomorrow.

Also, if cheap eats appeal in the East Village I have to recommend my favorite vegetarian cabbie stand. Get #1 and #2 in a bowl over rice and a samosa. Best $5.25 you can spend in that area.

Currently my favorite restaurant is probably pic related. It is open 24/7, all dishes are vegetarian and it's super cheap. You can get a filling meal there easily for $5. No seats, but there is a counter to stand at.

I frequently eat at much nicer places than this, but for the combination of flavor, price and convenience this place is my fave. Plus the Sikh dudes behind the counter almost always play cool music.
