Yeah, most kitchens would be pissed about that, and it sucks ass for whoever has to cover those shifts. You we're just a 17 year old kid with no responsibilities. It wasn't an internship. Your dad didn't die. You weren't hospitalized. Their line of thinking was probably along the lines of

am cook and manager for a nice restaurant. All of our food is fresh, made from scratch, and we make over $17,000 on a busy day. One of our dishwashers has been with us for 6 years. He comes in on his days off and cleans. He's constantly getting overtime, and he helps with prep and assists cooks. He just went 8 months without calling off or asking for a day off. When he finally did, it was a random ass Thursday. He just wanted to smoke weed and rest up for the two doubles he had for Friday and Saturday. I haven't taken a day off in over 11 months, and that was literally just for one single day. It was so I could go to my daughter's birthday party. It sounds like you didn't want to be there or even knew where you were at, because it takes everyone atleast a few years to learn how to properly work in a kitchen.
