What you don't understand is that keto suppresses hunger. You simply don't feel hungry when on a near-zero-carbs diet, i.e., keto.

Months after starting on keto, I decided I really REALLY wanted a sugar-loaded drink. A few hours after I had it, I was absolutely suffering from how hungry I was. I hadn't felt that in months. It taught me the value of not cheating on keto.

Some people who have studied this stuff talk about how the carbohydrates cause the release of ghrelin and of course insulin. Fine, whatever the science behind it is, all I know is that I am eating one meal a day of about 1200 calories and not even noticing any hunger.
