Serious question time /sip/pers

Honestly, what do you like about energy drinks? I'm legitimately curious, as I've tried to find one I like but most just border on meh or are too sweet. If I've wanted a caffeine boost I've always just thrown a tab into my protein shake.

What's so appealing about these to you guys? Especially at the price the command. Just convenience?
