Hey /ck/ I am a uni student who is somewhat poor and I come here today to seek advice. I would like to eat better food than just baked beans on toast. I am looking for simple recipes or tips to improve the quality of the food I eat.

Yes, and often I'll top with either HP, Lea & Perrins, or mustard (a mild yellow).

Were you using proper Heinz beans? Blue can, always the blue can. American beans are super-sweet and not appropriate for this kind of use.
