The codebooks are just there for newer cashiers and for referencing in case they forget. Even if you're as dumb as a brick, you eventually learn the most common ones (4011, 4225, 4693, 4608, 4131, 4022,4023, etc) just through repetition.
Also people can't bag their own groceries for shit. Worked in a grocery store a while and helped out bagging a bunch and had to stop so many shoppers from putting eggs or soft produce on the bottom.

Source: ran the front end at a grocery store at one point. Never again.

Not really, the benefits of antioxidants in drinks and food has been hugely exaggerated and sugar in high quantities is fucking terrible for you. A sweet drink every once in a while is fine, but even a juice like OJ (especially shit like Tropicana) has almost as much if not equal amounts of sugar as a soda.

Sparkling water is a good move. I know people like to shit on La Croix, but it's decent and there are cheaper alternatives. Stevia flavored sodas are also not terrible if you're trying to wean yourself off of sugary drinks.

In regards of products, somewhat. Overall, working for them, not really. Everyone always complains about things being worse and I don't always buy it.

A lot of items do get discontinued at a rapid pace and I don't like it. I've been hearing the "quality's gone down since back in my day" for years even before the Amazon acquisition, and I do think it's overblown for the most part.

As for meat, I haven't noticed a dip in quality really. You have to remember that every store is not created equal and they do actually vary quiet a bit. In the couple stores I've been to recently, meat has been really solid quality and while there are marinated items, those tend not to be the focus of the main case, but in some kind of a coffin fridge. Also consider the fact that the one in your neighborhood shut down, it was not a high volume location and probably was not attracting the best, most capable leadership. Whole foods doesn't shut down stores willy nilly, that shit has a huge cost.

Probably a good chunk if not most of the people here including that faggot that posted his microwaved potato and boiled tofu earlier today.

But that's OK because cooking's not hard to figure out the basics of as long as you actually practice and try to improve. Look up recipes, get some spices in your pantry that have multiple uses and follow the recipes step by step until you get your sea legs. You can do it.
