How do you make sourdough bread? Got any tips and tricks for beginners?

Is there any bread at the grocery store thats actually good? Sure a lot of the mid shelf brands aren't bad perse but it seems all of it from the worst wonder-bread to Daves killer all has the same pillowy, squishy texture that no real, fresh baked bread actually has. Nor any of that nice, slightly yeasty, fresh flavor that you can get from your own loaf.

The texture is especially bad for me because I'm an adult with braces and that gummy wet mass of it gets stuck in them worse than anything

Is there any bread you can buy at the store that's like fresh baked bread? Im sure the first answer is gonna be

but unless I wanna have a sandwich on baguette for the most part those breads are only a slight improvement
