I bought a crockpot and wanted to try it out so I looked up a beef stew recipe. I was going to brown the beef but the recipe explicitly said not to, so I just threw it in raw. Anyways, it also said to cook it on LOW for 10-12 hours. I thought that seemed a bit long but again, I never used a crockpot so I just followed the instructions. It’s been about 7 hours now and I look in and the potatoes/carrots etc seem like they would fall apart into mush if I cooked them much longer. I looked up other recipes and realized almost every other recipe online says cook it for only 7-8 hours. Unfortunately, every other recipe also says to brown the beef beforehand.

What should I do? I don’t want to undercook the beef, but I don’t want to overcook everything else. Should I just wait the entire 10 hours? Or should I stop it early?
And yes, I know I’m retarded.
