My family is irish. We don't eat potatoes. Mashed potatoes are my absolute favourite, but my parents refuse to cook them. We have them once a year for thanksgiving, and 70% of the time they buy boxed mix. I've talked to them multiple times about how our diet could use the extra fiber and nutrients, while cutting down on our food budget, but they just refuse.

They don't clean up after cooking either. We live in a slightly rural/suburb area with lots of insects, and they never clean up cooking ware when they're done. It will be left out for a day or two, just soaking in water instead of actually being cleaned or put down the sink.
