>Is it ok for a heterosexual white male to buy and drink boxed wine
Men drink wine without any gender issues, whatsoever.
"Box wines" are meant for people who have one glass at a time, like food pairing, and cheaper price, with no pressure to down the rest of the bottle in this single sitting.
They tend to be mid to low tier, however, but with a meal, does it matter much? Answer is no, for a lot of people. They're lighter to carry for people who live in a city, no glass to break, and fit in your fridge ready to dispense cold (like for white).

What can you do instead of the cheap weird tasting tetra-pak containers? Vacu vin the remaining wine in your bottle, takes 4 seconds to put the special cap on, to pump the air out, and it's great for several more days nearly unchanged because lack of air is like a new bottle, no flavor degrading oxidizing is going on. Now, buy what you like, or have a choice of 2 bottles you alternate by course.

OP, I went through two do-overs from natural disasters, Things below are mandatory for me, lol. Think about your new cabinet space situation. Get 1 brand of nesting, stackable cookware if needed.

Various silicone spoonulas, spatulas, tongs. Air insulated cookie sheets, silpat, flexible thin cookie and pie server spatulas, pie crust protectors (no more foil!). For holiday roast great gravy, a large graniteware covered roaster. Super foamy bialetti brikka, greek hand cranked mill for coffee or spices, coffee scooper that clamps a bag closed, jar pop, edge can opener, microplanes, one handed lime squeezer, tupperware onion keepers and melting ice cream scoop, snapware produce keepers, pyrex freezable microwaveable vented lid dishes for leftovers, tomato knife, bagel knife spreader, pressure cooker for stocks (guess instant pot counts), instant thermometer, vacu vin wine stoppers are great to keep a couple wines next to the stove fresher longer like sherry, marsala or some vermouth for deglazing reasons, everyone loves corncob holders and metal skewers for shishkabobs at BBQs, silver grapefruit spoons, marrow spoons (have fun on replacementsltd catalog, zoku popsicle molds (pour that mojito or kahlua coffee right in there), carving cutting board, thin flexible cutting board set, black and decker mini processor <-- use this thing way more than I thought I would $3 goodwill. I quickly pulsed some creamy pepita-avocado salad dressing in it most recently. I also have a copycat of the "bullet" kind of mini blender, was gifted to me when my sibling bought a vacation condo and didn't want the "furnished" items left behind.. I find that I use the little 1 cup blender cup to make sweetened whipped cream often, just 3 seconds and done. I pour it on fresh strawberries or on top of iced coffee, then tuck it into the top rack dishwasher.
