I just bought canned Brussel sprouts and pic related is literally what happened when I ate one. I eat frozen and fresh Brussel sprouts all the time and they taste awesome, but these canned ones were beyond disgusting.

What the fuck did they do to it? It was extremely bitter, tasted nothing like what I know of Brussel sprouts. Not even talking about the fact that they were also overly salty and completely mushy. What a horrific experience. It was the same when I bought canned kale, it's just unbelievably bitter and tastes nothing like fresh and frozen.

Why do the canned ones taste so terrible? Is it because of the high temperatures in the canning process?
