This is false as fuck anon, pretty much every attempt to prove or disprove this idea has always come up with the result that fridge temp vs room temp produces no real difference.

I do agree that most people don't actually understand what rare means though. A rare steak should still be entirely reddish-pink in the middle but plenty warm and with freely flowing juices. The majority of people who prefer their steak well done either think rare means blue rare, or they're the guys who think rare meat is "bloody".
