28g (one ounce) is the standard serving size for a pickle in the US. In some cases, that might be a third of a pickle, or two pickle slices, or 2/3rd of a spear, or whatever.
The point is, you can easily compare different brands of pickles because they're all using the same size as their base measurement. If they just said "one pickle" it'd be different and harder to compare, because one pickle in the OP's image is 84g and one pickle of Vlasic in my image is 14g because they're sliced pickles.
