Missing from previous post: the cups will now be referred to as, in order from left to right, cup 1, cup 2, and cup 3

A powdery residue has settled in cup 1. In this context it should be noted that the tea was poured through a fine mesh strainer twice before reducing.

The taste of cup 1 was surprisingly weak initially. It lost the astringency and gained a subtly burned quality. It also became slightly sweeter. As the remaining tea was drank, I found that the taste was concentrated in the residue at the bottom of the cup. It was a very focused astringent and acidic taste. It lasted only a brief moment.
