I made ratatouille once, was extremely disappointed. Just tasted like cooked vegetables.

I hate my family's nonexistent cooking skills. My mother never uses seasonings in anything she cooks, ever.
Burnt, dry, tasteless meatloaf that's nothing but meat and breadcrumbs, slathered in ketchup, and cooked to a crisp.
Overcooked, rubbery, unsalted scrambled eggs.
Unseasoned, sandy, mouth-drying chicken.
Even when following the recipes of other people and using all the ingredients, the food still came out absolute trash.
My dad wasn't any better either, he'd burn everything he cooked, always, and would either not season anything at all or overseason it to shit with lots of butter.
I'm 30 and to this day my mom and dad STILL cook exactly the same, with 0 improvement. It baffles me.
My grandma makes good pie but that's about it.
I learned how to cook just so when I have kids they don't have to eat trash.
