Bubbleburst here. Due to the current state of /ck/ (and 4chan in general), I won't be organizing our annual cooking competition this year. If anyone would like to take over, PM me or Yellowjacket for more info.

Hey guys!

So as lots of you will know, we have a yearly cooking competition here on /ck/, where people cook and present dishes according to themes which are then rated by other people taking part or just observing.

I've been in contact with a few of the competition regulars and we thought it'd be cool to up the anti a bit. Because some trolls decided to try their best to ruin the last one, we were thinking of maybe adding in a panel of 'official' judges (no spoilers but we know of someone pretty well known in the cooking industry who'd be willing to take part!), who will verify their scores with timestamps. We could keep the public vote too, but the winner of the judges votes will win the prizes.

And the other thing we were looking at changing were the prizes themselves. As a thanks to the people spending money and putting time in to this, I was thinking of pushing out the boat a bit. And if they encouraged more people to take part, that would be all the better.

Anyway, feedback would be appreciated. As well as new ideas you guys have.

I admit it, Yellowmug is scum. Since the competition ended i've gotten 3 emails from obvious throwaway accounts abusing me for not putting his dish through and for letting people insult his food. All written exactly the same as he did.

Well screw you Yellowmug, I had nothing to do with people hating your food.

The theme of Round Four is...

Cookies!

Let's start the cruel process of elimination with a sweet bite... There are no restrictions or requirements, as long as it seems like a pleasant thing. While you're perfectly welcome to make a large spread of food, please make sure there is clearly a "main dish" because that is what people will be voting on.

Two contestants will not be moving on to the next round.

The theme of Round Three is...

Childhood favorite!

This is the last of the open rounds, might as well use the nostalgia in your advantage to make it to the elimination rounds! Make a dish that is linked with good childhood memories. There are no restrictions or requirements, as long as it seems like a pleasant thing. While you're perfectly welcome to make a large spread of food, please make sure there is clearly a "main dish" because that is what people will be voting on.

This is the last open round, meaning that anyone can enter. Elimination begin starting next round.

We've come to a unanimous decision. Thomas will not be carrying on with the competition. Obviously this wasn't what anybody wanted but we felt it was the necessary repercussion to his actions.

Thomas's lies ruined this round. He tried to take advantage of the theme and everybody suffered for it. It was unnecessary and it's a shame. Everybody would have been happy if Thomas had posted an honest story, it didn't have to be anything special. But he just couldn't let it be that way.

So for the next round, Thomas won't be submitting an entry. He's welcome to try again next year, under the requirement of him not trying this again. I apologize for him, /ck/.

VOTING GUIDELINES

Voting follows an 'Iron Chef' style scoring system. This means you, the people of /ck/, will judge each entry individually instead of deciding on what you feel is the "best" dish.

Dishes are scored out of a total 20 points, based on 4 categories (worth a maximum of 5 points each); Presentation, Originality, Appeal and Challenge Goals. You may award 0's if you feel the contestant did not meet your expectations for a category.

-Presentation: The appearance of items on the plate; plating skills
-Originality: Creativity in composing the dish
-Appeal: How appetizing the food looks/whether or not the dish appeals to your personal taste as a voter
-Challenge Goals: How closely the entry followed the challenge goal(s)

The distinction between Presentation and Appeal: If someone submits an artfully arranged but burnt steak as an entry, it may score high in Presentation but low in Appeal.

Welcome to the 5th Round of the 2015 Challenge!

This round is an elimination round.

pon !g5GTSHLbXY has backed out of the competition, meaning only one person actually got eliminated last round...
We had quite a few people not posting last round so I went with the cummulative scores from the open rounds. So two people got lucky ;-). However, we must now say good-bye to MoarCowbells !!qd5P4UpU5Zi. Thank you for playing and don't hesitate to post along for the fun of it during the rest of the challenge!

Here's the list of those who made the top 13!

Regular rules (timestamps and identifiers) still apply. Full rules and past rounds are on the blog : http://ckchallenge.blogspot.ca/

Please read the voting guidelines below. This round will go until April 7th.

Borneo, Cholula and AntiAcid helped me behind the scenes and thus cannot be declared winners, though I'll be tracking the scores of any dishes submitted for fun :-)

Other eliminated contestant may post dishes for consideration if they wish to continue playing along, but votes will not be tallied for them.

Regular rules (timestamps and identifiers) still apply. Should any of the top 15 contestant wish to bow out, please get in touch with me so that I may bump up one of the others in your place!
