guacamole.... all the packaged ones are mush and use ton of filler

pizza suace, just learned to make my own and it is a million times better than the jar juice they sell at the store...

-beans from a can? sounds absolutley disgusting, have never had them out of a can before.. although the beans in a jar in my fridge look equally gross

----------

i wont bother making my own salsa, i seen the work my mom puts into it and im like fuuuuuck that, actually its not much work at all, a lot faster than making pizza suase

french fries. how come i cant make decent fucking french fries? i should probably actually try

fuck man, i dont remember how much i was spending when i lived on my own but
free bread from bread factory
bakery outlet there as well
grocery outlet down the street
I would go there and give my friend $20 and he would buy me like $40 worth of food and then the casheir would be like "and you saved $50 on your purchase"
also next to a samsclub for bulk stuff, and walking distance from a cheap 5day/wk farmers market for fruits, nuts n veggies, buy old produce for like 1/4 the price for suases and stuff

pretty much anytime i went shopping id end up spending exactly $20 no matter where but i cant seem to recall how often i went shopping... id usually be on a bike, tho, so id never end up grabbing too many snacks and shit.

and right next to all those stores was an el pollo loco, get a dollar bean cheese rice burrito and fill it to over a lb with pico de gallo and jalapenos n shit

also would very often share meals and make more for my friends and roommates. almost never made breakfast for just myself

-best strombollis around, famous for them

-el rancho next door
-already cheap before the weekly two for one dinner coupon from the pennysaver, white people comfort food in a mexican resturant setting, sooo good

-la costa, super lowcost mexican food with tacobell grade meat, but EVERYONE loves it

-tacobravo, like the only taco shop in the southbay. pretty famous

-el paisa taqueria on captiol and senter - so fucking mexican and good, all the paisas go there for family dinners and shit

also fuck iguanas and their as-seen-on-tv $20 burrito. yeah its the size of two burritos but at 4x the cost... and the secret orange suace is just shit and mayo, when im downtown i go to super taqueria, the food is cheap and they use too much salt, but the salsa is just to die for, i love that shit. its hot and makes me sweat, i had a fat $3.50 bean cheese rice burrito eveyday for almost 3 years

Mexican Soups Are The Best Soups

My Favorite Abondigas

(Abondigas Soup)

2 tablespoons olive oil
2 3/4 cups chopped onions
4 garlic cloves, minced
2 small bay leaves
5 14 1/2-ounce cans beef broth
1 28-ounce can diced tomatoes in juice
1/2 cup chunky tomato salsa (medium-hot)
1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
1 pound lean ground beef
1/4 pound bulk chorizo
6 tablespoons yellow cornmeal
1/4 cup whole milk
1 large egg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 cup long-grain white rice
Preparation
Heat oil in heavy large pot over medium-high heat. Add 1 3/4 cups onions, 2 garlic cloves and bay leaves; sauté 5 minutes. Add broth, tomatoes with juices, salsa and 1/4 cup cilantro; bring to boil. Cover and simmer 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, combine ground beef, pork sausage, cornmeal, whole milk, egg, salt, pepper, cumin, then remaining 1 cup onions, 2 garlic cloves and 1/4 cup cilantro in medium bowl. Mix well. Shape meat mixture by generous tablespoonfuls into 1- to 1 1/4-inch balls. Add rice and meatballs to soup and bring to boil, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat, cover and simmer until rice and meatballs are tender, stirring occasionally, about 20 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Ladle soup into bowls and serve.
