Bishies get worked to the bone, but it's a really rewarding experience for us even without much compensation.
Went in 2014, and Bishies only actually get compensated for the following year's con. So even if you work 20+ hours, you still have to pay.
What sucks is that if you miss a year, you have to pay the next time you come.
Bonus is that it filters out tons of fuckbois who just want to get laid and given a free con.

>>9640731
Bishies don't HAVE to do every bishie-related event. You can do as much or as little as you desire. I know some who just do bingo, and literally nothing else.
But a number of the older bishies are very dedicated to this con.

Since 2013.
>cosplay?
Just doing a VK sweater shoot, and later a meetup Friday.
Not planning on cosplaying this year - just coming to see friends.
>horror stories?
Have had a con stalker, but I know they lurk /cgl/ so not going into detail.

Fun fact about Batmaid:
He was part of the Maid Overwatch group, but realized that evening that he'd forgotten to pack clothes.
So he just made due with the one and only outfit he brought that weekend.

Same. Just now reading through the thread to catch up on what's going on.
Gonna try making the meeting, but I'm probably only going to be at Sak for one day this year.

The part of central Oregon no one knows exists.
>Cosplay plans
Don't really have much cosplay plans for Sak this year - just kind of keeping it more casual, since I don't really have anything new except firefighter Makoto, so far.
>What you're doing?
For me, Sak is mostly to meet up with friends and to wander around taking pictures of cosplays I like.
>Any panels you are looking forward to?
Never really been one for panels, save for a couple that aren't at Sak.

No problem. I've collected a ton of stories at cons in the last year or so.
Have several really good ones, I'll probably post in other threads sometime.

>>7826689
Aw, thanks.
There was definitely a wide range of guys on stage with pretty much every body type. So, whatever floats your boat.
As for talents, it ranged between dances, to singing with a guitar (pic related), or song parodies, to serenading a body pillow with a violin.

>>7826691
Ugh, I would've loved that. My wig really needs to be restyled, since it's been tossed in bags and dragged so many cons in the last year.
And my makeup experience pretty much ends at powdering my face, to help with a shiny face. But I have to say, letting people do your makeup is just so damn relaxing.

>>7826721
Most of the bishie's who go on stage are straight.
Didn't see many other guys attending the con.
However, from the ones I talked to, they were either married, or not really interested in dating or hooking up.
Though I know for a fact that bishie's have, and do hook up with people at this cons - especially their buyers. They spent so much time covering all that with us, and what was, and wasn't legal while we were on the clock.
For finding an actual boyfriend, I think you might have better luck at a normal convention.

>>7826752
From what I saw and experienced, I think this is pretty much on the mark.

Alright, uploaded your picture here. Thanks again for letting me use it. Would've loved to have taken more pics, myself, but I was a bit busy, and none of my photographer friends were at this con.
I do have a tumblr, but I only really use it to follow personal friends, so I've yet to ever post anything on it, myself.
Think they'd just be better off liking the cosplay page, since I'll actually be keeping an eye on that one.

Appreciate it. Feel like if it wasn't for my body, I wouldn't have gotten much of a reaction, since I still feel so stiff and awkward on stage.
Hoping to be better if I go again next year, and hopefully my friends will be a bit more fit by then, too.

Thanks, Anon. Final numbers for my cut + month-long vacation is that I lost 20.6 lbs, but for 6' and 172.8 lbs, I'm still glad I look alright.
Think the last two times I posted on /fit/ was for the Chrismas card to /cgl/ thread, and like 6 months into lifting when I was the definition of T-rex mode.

Anyway, this is my current routine. After I'd hit 27" thighs and a 29" waist, my routine was specifically meant to simply maintain leg size, but fill out the rest of my torso.
Only leg work is some ATG / Olympic squats and DL's.

As for 'mirin stories from this weekend specifically, I'd mostly say that people just treated us bishie's like local celebrities. Felt pretty weird, since I've never done anything like this.
There were a few people who were too nervous to say anything when they came up to ask for a photo, or hug. They'd just eventually hold up their camera, or hold their arms out.
Several others had to be dragged over by their friends, saying things like, "She wants a photo with you."

There was one girl in particular who asked for my number. After the auction, her and her friend just ended up hanging out with everyone in my room (5 bishies + 1 married woman) as we shared stories until 6am.
She said that before she initially came up to us, she was wondering if the were even allowed to talk to the bishie's when we weren't working the main events.
Later that night she'd told my friend that she thought I was out of her league, which was ironic since I thought she was out of mine.

$136, which all went to the cop outfit Rin, since he was the one who bought all the underwear, as well as my plane ticket, as I mentioned earlier in the thread.
I've heard that they cut the tip line short, and if we'd opened bidding to anyone, rather than just women, it sounds like Cipher would have tried to win us, as well.
He's the guy who ended up with something like 3-4 other bishies, more towards the front and center of the audience.

Helps cover plane ticket costs, at any rate.

Thank you! Really wasn't expecting the kind of reaction I got from everyone, and especially Reika of all people. Would say my first California con went surprisingly well.
Also, I really like that photo, and just made a cosplay page earlier today. Mind if I upload it, and if so, would you have a handle I could credit you by?

>>7826537
Yeah, I remember exactly which one you're talking about.
I was about to just turn around, if she went any further. That was one of the two moments of the con where someone was stepping out of my comfort zone.

Had a great time this year, and enjoyed running into seagulls around the con, as well as those who showed up at the meetup.

Highlight of the con for me was the Kuroko no Basket shoot I did with my friends, and six of us going to the mall for food after the shoot.
Whenever we ran into someone from a show like Free, Eyeshield 21, or Yowapeda, we'd just say "Sports anime!" and give them a fist bump.

Oh! On day 0, we found a frozen jar of pickle juice in our freezer. But I guess the vinegar or something kept it from completely freezing over, so the pickle seeds were still moving around in the ice.

It might've just been whoever I checked in with, but it's better to be safe than sorry, and still try to get ahold of your barcode, if possible.

Also, Sak lineup is Makoto Tachibana (Free!), Murasakibara (Kuroko no Basket), and possibly Gino Weinberg (Code Geass) for the ball, if I end up going to that.

Actually, since starting to go to cons in 2011, I've seen plenty of Sailor Moon cosplayers / groups, but I don't recall ever actually seeing a Tuxedo Mask.
Well, aside from one in a joke Sailor Moon group at last Sak, if it counts.
Pic related.

They never even asked for my barcode. Just looked at my ID, and printed the badge.

Friday night / day 1 by the cafe on the first floor, as Anon said above.
We can decide on a specific time when Sak posts the schedule, so it hopefully doesn't collide with any big events.
Only room party I know of is now invite-only after someone broke the toilet in half last night.
Might have to post about it in a weeb horror story eventually.
