That's what we've always gone by. I think what happened was that we were discussing rearranging panel rooms/times, but ultimately decided on smaller room but earlier times. Somewhere a message didn't get passed along, and... Well, you know the results. It's too bad but, mistakes happen. We're still pushing for 6C for all days.

For some reason though, seeing NOT ZAP made me laugh really hard.

I could get a kickstarter or a patreon or something, but we wouldn't be allowed to advertise it there. We'd get shitcanned so fast. I mean hey, if you're willing to throw money I won't stop you! But we even got in trouble for the money stuffing the other year.

I fucking wish. Paid to go to conventions? That's like a dream come true. Nah, I get free passes to pretty much all of them and that's it. Still that's saving me like 70$ for sakura-con so that's alright.

Right? It's a weird idea. My friends always get to do Loveline as different characters but I never do. Of course, I'll still be Zapp for Spaceship of Love.

As far as planning goes, HAH! Seriously though, we have a 15+ hour drive down which gives us lots of time to go over stuff. I also spend a few months at work brainstorming during downtime where I can write stuff down.

We also run panels at 3 other cons and 2 day-long cons through out the year, which gives us lots of time to practice material and learn what works. We take the best of what we do throughout the year, and do it at Sakura-con.

Holy shit it snuck up this year. I'm mostly ready though, considering my year hasn't been off to a great start.

I am strongly considering NOT going as Zapp Brannigan to Loveline though. I'd like to switch it up.

They went pretty well, all things considered. Spaceship of Love being in that smaller room sucked, and screwed us over pretty hard. A lot of the staff had our backs and tried to help us out for getting us into the big room, but, shit is complex yo. Gonna do what we can to ensure we get the big room for everything, but, easier said than done.

Everything else went pretty well though. Loveline was pretty high energy throughout, D&D was as goofy as always, and MCing the cosplay contest was a blast. My only issues were among my own crew but I'll get around to yelling at them about their fuck ups.

I had fun. I agree with a couple posters who thought the dealers hall was kind of meh. Still managed to get a few things I've been seeking out for a while. Worst part about Sakura-con is how bloody fast it goes though, god damn.

Yeah, I have no idea. We had a successful panel last year. I didn't notice any less of an audience? I certainly hope we didn't, at least. I'd be heartbroken!

I had to wonder if they were trying to shy away from fan panels in 6C or something. Figured maybe they were trying to get it just for Guests or some such. I know we've pissed off a certain guest in the past!

I am a jaded old man now. Everything offends me these days!

I'm happy we got all our panels in, too. I'm a bit worried though, they gave us a much smaller room for Spaceship of Love this year. That panel's usually packed as is...

Oh, yeah, I figured as much, as well. I just think anon might be shitting a little too hard on "loosely related" content panels.

I would absolutely argue our panels are relevant. As you yourself said, it's an ANIME and Japanese culture convention. Part of the anime culture is video games, and general nerd culture -- Things we actively try to include in all of our panels.

That being said, however, I think it's bullshit not to include lolita panels. Lolita's not only Japanese culture, but very much Anime culture as well. As much as lolitas might want to argue that lolita =/= anime, anime has helped popularize it (for better or for worse) and brought it to many peoples attention as... Something that exists at all.

It's never too soon for Sakura-Con! I had a huge burst of inspiration today, so, I've been doing a bunch of panel work. Hopefully going to get some cosplay stuff done on Wednesday, but, life is dildos right now sooooo... Will see what happens!

I was severely disappointed by the lack of Jojo at the con. The Artists Alley was pretty awesome, though. I also apparently have no good pictures on my laptop, of myself or others, from the con. Alas.

D'aww you're a peach. I wish it did too! We're going to try and be more active on it, but man, I can't help but feel like a douche any time I try and advertise it. Feels like I'm just selling out if I post it anywhere on the internet.

I have not. I wasn't even sure where to start. I'll look into that one though, thanks!

It's our entire group, and not so much cosplay as it is panel stuff and goofiness.

This is something we've been struggling with for a few years now. We really aren't sure what the best way to go about doing so is. I initially thought I could stream to the big screen using a webcam but I don't seem to have software that will let me do so. We are looking more seriously into it for next year though -- We have someone who records the panels with a GoPro and he thinks he might be able to rig something up for us. If possible, we're going to try to stream it to Twtich, as well. If you have any idea/suggestions though, PLEASE let me know.

I also apologize for that weird little bit of miscommunication, I'm not really sure what happened there. I wanted the groups together for the Fell-Your-Pose thing, but when you put it like that I see what my Mic-Wench was going for.

We are definitely going to try and figure out a projection fix though. What would be EVEN BETTER of course would be to just get main stage, but that's a pretty lofty goal!

Glad to hear the venue didn't drive you totally bonkers. It worked well enough, but we're going to push harder for 6C again next year. The heckling got a little bit out of control, I agree. I'm going to have to get some people to roam around and tell people to chill a bit I think.

And yes, that's my Mii! I'm Canadian. I'm sorry.

The wedding is definitely one of them. Pretty crazy. We were all standing up there like "Holy shit, is this happening? What do we even do?"

MCing the cosplay contest was a lot of fun, too. Our new cosplays were wonderful, and our updated ones were awesome. A lot of the stories I have probably aren't the types /cgl/ is interested in though, except for one in particular...

After loveline, our maid had ... Quite the night. We went back to our room and he had a few drinks, then said he was gonna go back out to con and fuck around, and would be back in like an hour. For some reason he left wearing nothing but a shirt and underwear. We didn't see him for 12 hours. We were kind of worried he'd got attacked or something, and we weren't exactly wrong about it.

Apparently some guy propositioned him for sex on the street and followed him from the hotel to the con. He managed to shake him, and then another guy did the same thing at the rave. Ended up going back to some girls hotel (there are little bits to the story in between as well but I'm about to leave), who ended up clawing the absolute fuck out of his back. When we saw him we thought he ended up in a dungeon or something. Was pretty nuts. I'll try and get a picture.

Welp. Time for the 12 hour drive home and some post-con depression! This con was one of the best for me. Tons of stories to share. It went by way too freaking fast though, felt like it didn't even happen!

As always, if anyone came to my panels, give me feedback! Comments, complaints, criticism, I appreciate it all... Unless it's about the time and space used for Loveline. That was beyond our control, unfortunately.

Oh god I'm sorry for seeing this late! Hopefully it didn't mess with your plans tonight.

Also holy shit, people got married at our panel. I don't even.

Oh my fuck I have a ton of shit to do still. Bizarrely enough, not very much of it is panel related... Which I guess is cool. WHY IS IT SO CLOSE?!
