ALSO! I am aware this is an extremely unprofessional post, and I apologize to you guys about it. However, we've been trying to work with wcs us for MONTHS and the last month has been horrific, confusing, and the SINGULAR most FRUSTRATING ridiculous situation of my life. They are supposed to be a prestigious organization and they want very hard to pretend they are spotless and care more about that, than actually working with you to put on their show. I honestly can not understand what goes on in their minds. I am absolutely flabbergasted

ha, eve has been posting on here. She's stirred up you guys about WCS. Shes the one insisting we dont know anything and to bring Ray in.
They can not be worked with, they can not be reasoned with and they are the most unprofessional people I have ever had the displeasure of trying to work with (and Ray was the one answering their sparse, illogical emails).
For anyone trying to work with them now, no, you will not get a response to your numerous emails begging for important info so you can put on their show until you do something that angers them, and then they'll only really email you back to yell at you, not to work with you. There is no 'working' with them. I honestly do not understand how they still exist. Also, be prepared for them to try to cancel on you multiple times if you don't say the lack of communication or any other problems are entirely your fault (despite your backlog of unanswered emails and messages you sent trying to get a response from them 2 months before your show).
Also, there is a very large possibility that your NDA was the same as ours which means it lacks:
-The definition of "confidential information" that the NDA deals with;
-Any exclusions from the confidential information;
-The obligations and duties of the party receiving the confidential information;
-The time periods for which the NDA will be valid and enforceable; and
-Any miscellaneous provisions.

which means it lacks pretty much any and all info that would make it an actual NDA. So good luck with that information.

hey guys! I got in the photography booth's stands, backdrop and carpet! I'm super excited about it.

also, has anyone else had issues with their packages being damaged? in the last 12months I've ordered and shipped a bunch of things to myself and 4 different things have been damaged. 2 of which were shattered (both cosplay swords), the other 2 just had messed up boxes and were thankfully unharmed.
I find it weird because 2 of them were USPS, one was UPS and one FedEx. Is it just me? have I somehow angered all the shipping companies? Its super frustrating.

we are smaller, and I've never been to those other cons so i can't really contrast us. We try to have a family feel (which, admittedly, is very hard to continue with growing numbers, but we try to be at least accessible), we are hoping to see an increase in our cosplay scene, so we're working on that slowly.

We try to have a large variety of guests because most anime fans aren't JUST fan of anime. They tend to like lots of things, so we bring lots of different guests. Some we bring because they put on a lot of fun panels or shows, some we bring back because of requests. We keep out 'Big Names' to anime vice actors. I'm sorry if you don't like it, but its how we do things.

thank you, this made me feel happy. Sadly, last year showed us people don't really seem to care all that much for reunions. We saw very little growth and the reunions were very expensive for a con of our size (though part of that could be chalked up to the weather problems). If we do another reunion, it probably won't be for a while. But I'm glad you seemed to enjoy it!

oh, also, i know no one answered my question about photo booths, but I wanted to be able to give the people who enter in our cosplay contest a nice photo to use online so I've purchased a rig, etc to set up a booth.

It'll also be open for anyone's use with a staff photographer throughout the con, and we will be posting pics on our Kami-Con facebook fan page

This isn't something we've done before, so I hope it works out well

how is my attitude peculiar? I'm putting on a con for my con-goers. I'm not taking part in WCS. Sorry, I'm a little confused. We have been talking to them since last April I think, and a lot has happened, so any attitude change on my part has been within the last month or so as my con draws ever closer.

our panel submission doesn't end until this next monday. Then we go through the panels, write up a schedule to give to our staff and guests to check over for any mistakes (staff being scheduled to be two places at once, guests may want to take part in another panel while their panel is at the same time, etc), then we fix and re-make the schedule, resend it out for checks, etc. Then we can post that tentative schedule. I'm hoping to have it posted by or before the first week of Feb, but its not all in my power to control when I get the first schedule completely returned to me or the first remake, etc. I'll try to get it out as soon as possible tho.

It will be in one of our main rooms. It is not replacing our con's cosplay contest because of how limited it is. We are still hosting our own Cosplay contest on saturday. It's costing us almost nothing.

To us it is a show for our con-goers to view. Its pure entertainment, much like the SRP concert, rave, band, etc.
Even if a lot of crazy awesome people don't enter, its still something fun for our con-goers to see and experience.

I really appreciate all the concern and worries and advice. I'll def keep all advice in mind. Right now they are the cheapest thing we have at out con, so you needn't be worried about our budget being ruined because of WCS.

Anyone have any other questions I can answer while I'm on here (maybe some not about WCS haha)?

also, do you guys like con photo booths? Momocon usually has one (and some other cons) and I'm thinking of setting one up this year, any thoughts about it? I was going to have the pics posted on the fan page on facebook. I think I used momocons' once and I'm not sure if I ever found that picture..I might have forgotten to look after checking in every few weeks tho, ha.does anyone else have any experience using a con booth?

Someone asked me a question, I told that person what I was told when I asked a very similar question to WCS officials while in Japan ...it is a Fact that I was verbally told WCS does not approach cons because they want to work with cons that want them. I don't think they need to keep me up to date in everything they do, I just said that if info had changed I was unaware of it. Never claimed they needed to tell me everything they decide on.
Are you ok? I feel like maybe you're confused or having trouble understanding what's happening and are therefore lashing out at me?

We were told by the Japan branch of WCS when we met them in Japan that WCS in the US does not approach cons for hosting. The cons have to approach them.

If this information has changed since March of last year, we were not made aware of this. Again, I'm not sure why it matters that I am saying something that was specifically told to me when Ray and I asked about how WCS chooses the cons that host prelims.
I also don't know why it matters so much, I am only trying to answer a question someone asked home, chill

Um, what's with the attitude? This is info that both Ray and I were told, and it doesn't really matter either way. I was asked who approached who and I responded that we approached them because we were told by the japan branch that WCS doesn't approach cons anymore (maybe they did in the past to get a foothold, but they claimed to not do so anymore and maybe due to problems they started asking again)
