Is that one of your own creations? It looks ace and the colour co-ord really works.

Fuck, I don't have enough leave available this year for all the larps I want to do. Should probably find a job that'll let me take long weekends off for leave rather than restricting it to only full weeks. That way I can stretch out my entitlement for more events.

Honey sign?
Also, albeit I have no idea what the licensing laws are where you are, but at Empire people run IC bars and sell alchohol for IC money. Because it's not sold for real money, there is no need for an Alcohol Licence.

I don't have a problem with it, assuming he's using kit appropriate for each of the larp settings. Not everyone can afford bespoke kit or have storage space for each and every larp they attend, especially weapons and armour.

>How do you feel about people making an in-game profit with clearly out-of-game skills?

I'm all for it. It makes the world seem more alive. Shit, 75% of my IC cash gets spent on cake, alcohol and IC fashion magazines at Empire.

This is one of my outfits for Empire, used for more social or well-to-do occasions.
Currently packing for Empire this weekend and doing research for my IC job.

I've heard horror stories from both genders in the MC, and from all accounts it's way better now than it was.
Unfortunately, to stop it becoming a massive endeavour to get anything done, the only people allowed in the MC tent when an official session is ongoing are Generals, their Adjutant and any Priests using Right of Witness to view what's going on (Priests are not allowed to speak, merely observe) so you can't rock up with mates to seem important.
It's less being loud, it's the (conscious or unconscious) shouting over women who are trying to speak, or just plain repeating what they said in different words and getting a better response.

Eh, I'm not a fan of the "but it's rp!" reason for being a)against the setting in looking down on female Generals or b) doing stuff that actively drives a certain section of the playerbase away.

Also the MC isn't meant to be a tablethumping exercise in shouting. It's more like the bit in a film where all the officers are looking at a map and discussing the strategy needed to win. Some of the best Generals are the ones that can work the numbers and see opportunities to exploit, rather than shouting.

Now the ST's are trying to make a more inclusive feel to the MC, by calling out the blatant bias in gender at the table, and reminding people of the genderblind setting. The players themselves (for the most part) are taking it on board and doing more to solve the ingrained problems of the past.

Not the Anon you're replying to; he just posted the statement from Profound Decisions (Game Organisers)

The Military Council is made up of Generals from the various nations, each in charge of an Army, that takes part in the military campaign between events. Each Army has a fighting strength of troops. It's a lot to do with grand stategy rather than fighting prowess of the General. You could be the best fighter on the field, but that means fuck all if you can't form a cohesive strategy.
The problem the MC has had in the past if that it has been filled with big shouty men, who have been big shouty men over the female Generals. In the past opinions or points from female Generals have been overlooked or ignored, until a male General makes the exact same point a few minutes later and it gets considered.
PD have done a few things to make the MC game more accessible to all players. They have moved the Campaign Map to a bigger tent, with benches surrounding it, meaning that it's not a race to stand at the table, where the larger players had often pushed out those smaller.
Empire is a gender-blind setting, so there should be no discrimination towards a female General based on gender, all are equal. (unless someone is shit and therefor should be replaced *cough* Estana *cough*

You know, you don't have to make your kit yourself. Granted, that's the cheapest option, but since I can't sew to save myself, I paid friends who can to make kit for me. They get to indulge their hobby while earning a bit of spare cash, and I get shit made for me to my spec.

Round will refer to the shape of the ring cross-section. You also get flat rings, which are more like washers.

Probably the same way people run bars, or newspaper, or any other self-crafted stuff for IC money: They have enough disposable income and think that the OC outlay is worth it. And it possibly is as some of the richest people on the field are those who sell stuff they've made.

The information on the website pertains to selling food and alcohol for real life money, as that breaches licencing laws.
However, selling that for IC money is completely fine.

I buy a meal ticket from one of the food vendors (Mhorish) for OC money, as that means I actually remember to eat. If I was just eating from IC places, I'd end up skipping meals due to being busy. But paying real money, means I'm damn sure getting my moneys worth.

There is the main taverns (The Forge) that sells booze for OC cash, but I only usually pop in there when I really need a cold drink. Otherwise I tend to do by drinking with IC cash at the various bars (I recommend The Temeschbar, The Salty Butcher and the mead bar in Brass Coast I keep forgetting the name of. The bar owner also does nice shoulder massages for IC cash too)

Cuckoo's Nest is still going, and I've got friends who attend and run the games. They so everything via the Facebook group rather than website these days. I'm tempted to help crew whenever my days off align with their games.

Never done F&H and I've never heard good things about it.

Both are single day linear systems - an adventuring party follows a route doing encounters until a final boss fight.

There's a 40k larp I attend called No Rest for the Wicked which runs in Dundee usually, but the first "season" ends this year and the location might move south a bit.

Most larps in the UK tend to run in the Midlands, as that's roughly equidistant from the north and south

So the big 3 are:
Empire
Curious Pastimes
Lorien Trust

I've not played the last two so can't comment on them, but I heartily recommend Empire.

However, there are loads of larps that sell out quickly, of varying genre and styles.

So tomorrow, I'll be travelling down to Empire. Looking to be a scorcher of a weekend, I'll try to get some pics before time in occurs.

Yeah, I missed that skirmish, was away politicking, sounded fucking savage.
What House were you part of?#

Glad you've worked out in the Marchers. Their bill blocks always look rad, but I couldn't handle the terrible accents some of them put on.

I've got a 40k one next week (No Rest) and I'm tempted to start Stargate this year, mainly due to the fact I can juatvuse my airsoft stuff for kit.

There's another 40k one starting next year (Inquisition Chronicles) that I need to sort my Arbites kit for.

Tempted by DuD, but I need to carefully ration my holiday entitlement as is. Might be able to squeeze another larp in.
Or, I could just get a better job that doesn't have such a strict holiday policy.
