It really has become a good con, have fun with it and everything will be great

Kinda of a combination of that and the fact that the Masquerade confirmation came out just a couple days ago. My team had a skit planned and the costumes all ready for it, but we were waiting for the confirmation before we started work on the Audio and the props we'd need and now we just don't have the time to make it happen.

Looks like I'm gonna be skipping SacAnime this time in favor of Wizard World's Sacramento Comic Con. They have a BITCHIN' guestlist so far and it keeps growing.

>Stan Lee
>William Shatner
>Walking Dead Cast
>Billy Dee Williams
>Bruce Campbell

Besides, I think I've been more suited to a ComicCon than an Anime Con since day one. I've loved gathering with fellow nerds immensely, but the fact remains that I've never considered myself much of an Anime fan. Of course, I enjoyed some of them very much, but I'm definitely more of a western-oriented media guy. I mean my costumes so far should've been a hint:

>Abomination; World of Warcraft
>Heavy Weapons Guy; TF2
>Pyro; TF2
>Dr. Zoidberg; Futurama
>Wreck-It Ralph
>Plans in the works for Venture Bros. characters

I never intended to ruffle any feathers in the SacAnime cosplay scene, but it happened and at one point I did some stupid complaining that I shouldn't have and made things worse, so I think taking a break from this one will be good for everyone. Hopefully, WizardWorld will put together a Con half as great as the previous SacAnime's have been.

Later days, peoples

I'm struggling with whether to go or not at the moment. I haven't missed one for about 4 years, but with the fact that I've worn the same costumes at the past 3 or 4 of them for financial reasons and our entry for the masquerade being kind of stuck in administrative limbo, it's kind of looking bleak.

I would really like to go, but the reasons that usually draw me there are starting to crumble around me, which is a bummer considering that this is the only con I've been able to afford attending regularly

That's the sort of stuff I love to see. Perler beads are a pretty simple artform, but it's the creativity people put into making them actual "art" that makes them legit. I'm always frustrated when I see a booth with them that has nothing but different colored bows and sprites straight from nintendo games. If you put in the work and actually create something new then beadsprites can really be a neat little nostalgia trigger without being directly copied from the source material

I can attest to that. I only just started doing Perler art booths last year and its a TON more time consuming than I had assumed it would be, but I LOVE the creativity you can put into them. I've been making 3-Dimensional ones lately of Bob-Ombs and Parasprites from MLP

The only downside is that the designs can be pretty easily stolen and replicated. If I find a design I like and I'd like to make copies, I ALWAYS contact the original designer for permission, and usually all it takes is to offer to put stickers with their deviantart on it, but there are so many who don't beother that I'm really hesitant to put photos of anything I've designed up.

We're definitely going to be in the Masquerade again, but with my financial situation there's no way I'll have a new costume ready in time. SO, prepare for more TF2 shenanigans

You picked the right time to come! It's leaps and bounds better than when it was at the Hotel.

It was just my best guess. As far as I know, maybe there was someone working on it from underneath. I don't know how to escalator

holy shit those were a life saver on Sunday. I don't know what made me miss them all of Saturday but I was lugging that big fucking mini gun up and down staircases and broken escalators for most of the day. I literally slapped my forehead in shame when I realized what I was looking at...

It's all about making the effort. If you're social, chances are you'll see people be social back. Talk with people who are cosplaying something you love so there's stuff to talk about and break the ice. Chat up an artist or two in the Ehibitor's hall. Hang out with people you've never met before by getting in a long-ass line and asking about what interest they have in what you're both waiting for.

I know it can be hard to take that first step, but these are the same people that have gone to SacAnime at the previous location. Don't let the fact that you're not squished against them keep you from making a connection. If you see me walking around in Winter, come chat me up and hang out with my group for a while. I'm having such an awesome time at the new locale, I want to do anything I can to make sure others are diggin' it too

They mentioned this in the closing ceremonies when someone asked about it. They're unlikely to stay open very late because of the huge costs of doing so, and the fact that at about 2:00am the downtown bars close and they want to keep their attendees safe

I know! I was sitting with them when we were pre-judging for the Masquerade and got to chatting with them. Apparently the Rapunzel there sewed ALL of it herself, even Flyn's proffessional, Disney Park-worthy vest. I was amazed how bitchin it looked and it reminded me just how little I knew how to sew
