I'm really happy I'm not the only /vid/gull here. All your suggestions are spot on and is the exact type of advice I followed by and would suggest. What do you personally shoot with anon? I've been shooting on a hacked GH2 for several years, and recently just upgraded to the GH4 this past month.

Depends if you're looking to monetize or not.

If you want to be sneaky and bypass YouTube's audio copyright filter, you can alter your song's pitch to be slightly higher or lower than normal. Usually that's good enough to get through.

Otherwise, you have to look into using royalty-free songs, (or free royalty-free songs if you're not looking to pay) these songs can be used without having to pay royalties to a specific artist. There's plenty of channels on YouTube that post free music to use in your videos.

Seriously, if you're looking to make money off of your videos, it's really essentially you don't use copyrighted music. It's a huge no-no and you're inviting your channel to be taken down or have possible lawsuits. Music copyright law is a nightmare and since nobody's making money selling music CDs anymore, you can be sure they won't allow anybody else to profit off of it. It's really not worth trying to bypass it. Instead, try looking on Soundcloud for indie artists who offer their songs within the Creative Commons domain. Those songs are also free to use in your work. It can be a huge pain finding a good song that isn't copyrighted, but in the longrun it's worth it having a clean account and a work that's 100% you're own.

Here's some channels you can check out with copyright-free songs to get you started:

>How did you like Atomic Lollipop this year?
It was a lot of fun! I was shooting again this year, so I was constantly running around non-stop from event to event. If there was a performance going on, you probably saw me at the front.

As fun as it was, it was super exhausting. APOP has some great programming, and I think next year I might hold off on filming to instead enjoy the con myself. I feel bad that I was running into so many people I knew, but had to brush a lot of them off because I was such in a rush all weekend.

To the anons who mentioned me in the last thread, I'm really sorry about rushing so much! Feel free to stop me anytime though, I like meeting new seagulls.

If anybody's interested in watching the final product, you can see it here.
pls b gentle

>Did you see the Prozzak reunion?
Yeah! I was shooting right by the front. They were super delayed because they had to clear the basement due to firecode, and it took them a while before they could start letting people back down, which pushed a lot of programming back. By the time they were ready to start, the laptop's audio feeding the video wasn't working, so it took them a while to sort that out.

While I was standing around by the stage waiting, Jay Levine from Prozzak approaches me and whispers in my ear: "I haven't done this in 12 year. What the fuck." It was really surreal. He then introduced himself and started talking to me. He was really nervous to perform.

During the show they were tossing some Milo and Simon plushies into the audience, and Jay handed one right to me. It was super sweet of him and I'm still fangirling about it ahhh

Know why? From what I remember, it was scheduled to end at 2am. The fact that it was surrounded by policemen makes me think that something happened that night, I could be wrong though.

Anybody know what the Saturday night outdoor dance was ended so early? By the time I got there, police were kicking people out, and there was an ambulance. Nobody's posted what happened though, so I'm curious

I had a great time!

>what was your favourite part of AN?
As cheesey as it sounds, seeing old friends and making new ones is always a favourite of mine. I got to work with so many new talented cosplayers this year, and there were lots of videographers around who I love to collaborate with. It was also super cool getting recognized a few times for my videos.

Having media passes and running around the con was a lot of fun. Friday night another videographer friend of mine and I got drunk before heading to the JPOP dance and snuck underneath the barricade to get footage. We were soon stopped by an organizer, who looked at our cameras, and said: "Hey, feel free to go on stage if you want", so hells yeah we did.

It was quite the experience being drunk on stage with good vibes from the DJ, and the hyped crowd cheering into your camera. After that, we vouched to get on as many stages as we could that weekend.

During the weekend, Blair posted a photo of Quantum Destiny at the con, and after that it became my MISSION to find my cosplay goddess waifu. I was lucky enough to catch her after a shoot, and she took the time to pose for my video even after I totally fangirl'd all over her. Euuuuuuugh I'm still fangirling just thinking about it.

>what did you buy and what's the favourite thing you bought?
Only thing I bought all weekend was this watermelon t-shirt. Just look at that face!

>what would you do differently next year?
Book less shoots. I'm starting to find that cosplayers can quite often be unreliable with scheduling times, and are often really late, or cancel last minute. Time is precious at cons, and I couldn't give those people second chances.

>horror stories?
My bf lost in the Smash 4 tournament to a Little Mac player, who also happened to be cosplaying Little Mac. As someone who hates that character, he instantly became super salty for the rest of the con. Luckily it was the Sunday, so I didn't sit through it too long

Personally it would have to be closer to closing-time for me. Not sure about everyone else, but it's a personal preference to do it at the end so I don't have to worry about costumes or anything and just shower once I finally get home.

Last one's in autosage.

Don't forget that Friday's meetup will be at 8pm outside the International Plaza's pool.

Would it work for people better if the pool party was on Sunday? With a lot of people cosplaying and having panel plans, it seems like Saturday could be difficult.
