Hey, did anyone staying at the Marquis pick up a badge that says “Manda マンダ” on it by any chance? We have turned our room upset down looking for her badge and can’t find it anywhere. It’s a weekend badge and if you did pick it up I have left my email in this form.

Badge was finally bought this morning. Still need to pack.

I'm just looking at the weather frankly shocked, it looks like I won't be melting to death this weekend.

Download the zazhimi app. Ok oe it's available for iPhone idk about android. But it's the easiest place to get magazines and you can get most of them there.

I had opened up my phone at 11:57 and I had specifically opened up the webpage so that I could try and get the room asap. I'm still in shock that I managed to get it. Bless autofill.

They were all sold out within a couple of hours. The DC convention center is a horrible spot for Hotels. like DC is a super walk-able city.

I just know that I'm doing a brunch reservation at Daikaya on Saturday because I don't get to go there too often due to my work schedule. I can already tell their first floor will be packed all weekend long (well it already is always packed anyways).

I think I'm going to have to get the lottery ticket. I got the room at 12:01 refreshed the page and they were gone. Honestly I'm going to credit Lolita releases for how I managed it, getting an Otakon room is nothing compared to an AP blood bath.

So what hotels did everyone get for next year?

I somehow managed to actually get the Marriott attached to the convention center and it's less then what I paid for my room at the Renaissance the last couple of years.

I honestly get the impression that the older one is just controlling. Like idk if you're an older sibling, or if you have good friends that are also older siblings and the older one is a bit of an over achiever with the younger one living in the older one's shadow; I get the feeling that that is what's happening with the two of them.

>>9155329
Yeah at 16 my friends parents would just get us the hotel room and check in for us. Other then that spend the rest of the con weekend at home.

I never understood this mentality. Like if your kid is into something and you're concerned with their safety then put your foot down and tell them no. Its like when you go to concerts and there are moms and dads there with their shitty teen daughters it messes with the atmosphere. Like seriously either trust that you taught your kid how to be safe or tell them they can do it when they're older.

Anyways in my comm its an older sister who is the pne butting in comstantly. She homestly acts like an over barring mothet most of the time anyways who is a know it all. The older one is into Lolita too but she is just so unpleasant to be around and so forceful with what jer sister can and cant do and wear. The younger one is 15 or 16 now older them when the older one joined up and still can only go to events if her sister is around.

Dumb ugly people assume kids are just as dumb and just as ugly as they are. I collected Barbies as a kid (still do). And I'm a fat sad adult, so beinh surrounded by pink dolls didnt give me an eating disorder or body image issues.

There is always Peach Girl.

Yep. A couple of characters in Nana wear VW. Honestlu everyone is super fashionable in the series if you've never read it. One of the main characters is punk, the other one is just a generally fashionable young lady with some bintage onspire stuff, otome-kei, and others, there is a gyaru (though she's npt in it much), someome in what I'd say is early natural kei, and all around some good vhoices in clothing. But Ai Yazawa always has such stylish characters.

Idk i like it because it makes me think of Miwako... And anything that remonds me of Paradise Kiss I cant get mad at. I just like the old school look.

Because it gets them attention... That and it was disrespectfully hot out so that would be my guess.

Ross, TJ Max, Marshalls, Nordstrom Rack... I have a couple of Kate Spades I paid less then $30 for they're just a couple of seasons old but still in great condition. Plus the average person isn't going to know what season it came out/care.

At this point, yes. But it's best not too have too many threads for the same convention up at the same time. at the very least though it's good to have the links to other threads for the con linked near the top of a new thread as well.

>> No.9145390 [View]

There are literally two other threads for Otakon right now. Neither one is saging yet, and both are asking for pics.

This one is Otakon General >>9141953

Yeah they really have been giving Lolitas the shaft. Like we were talking about how the fashion show when they were still having it was packed, then suddenly the next year no Lolita panels or anything. Like they have k-pop panels and workshops and I feel like Lolita is way more in line with Otakon over k-pop. idk I feel like the only people who would show up to the shoot would be people who just aren't looking that great and those will be the only photos anyone takes of them the whole con.

>> No.9144835 [View]

>>9144614
Yep. It's sad and disappointing. I was hoping Lolita collective would be there since there were a couple of things I wanted to get from them, but I'll just order if online. I just wish there were more shops like them.

>>9144616
True that. Like my friends and I just wandered around the dealers room rolling our eyes at things being sold for 20-50 that are on taobao or heck aliexpress for <$10.

Like in the dealers room I spent $9 this year in artist alley it was $40. On ones and I only spent $49 at the con on the other hand it was disappointing. The only things I got and we're excited for were a free fan from Pony Canon with the girls from Hibike! Euphonium, and a free Free! free bag from Crunchy Roll... because I am KyoAni loving trash.

Katsucon has parking.... AUSA I'd say good luck on. Though if you go across Conneticut avenue there is a neighborhood there that has non metered street parking. It's actually where the restaurants park their cars for "valet parking". So that's a tip if you ever want to go to dinner along there.

>>9144599
No. It was a lot of over priced replicas and over priced taobao. My friend and I took s peak at it because we always do at every con and talk about it being shit like the salty bitches we are. On Friday there were Facebook posts made specifically warning people about buying from them.

>> No.9144597 [View]

>>9144591
For AUSA they are out of rooms for Saturday night at the hotel the con is held in. However there are a few hotels up the street from it and if you live in the DC area the convention is held literally across the street from the Woodly-Park Zoo. But you could probably Air BnB it since its in a fairly residential part of the city.

Katsucon is probably out of rooms at the Galylord and outside of the convention block it's pricy. But there are a w hotels within about a block or two from the Con.

I would say check out AUSA and Katsucon. AUSA is in October and a small chill but fun con. Katsucon is turning into my new fave con... I hear good things about Magfest but I think it's more video games but the crowd appears to be older. Awesome con also exists, and I had a decent time last year.

Then you can always check out BlerDCon because that doesn't sound like it's going to be a hot garbage con.

Like seriously this i ended up spending only $30 there this year and normally i am throwing cash around like a big baller. I did get some cute Yuri Kuma keychains so, hooray but other then that almost a bust.

>>9143157
I tried to walk up the stairs in the Charles street lobby and a gaurd told me i couldnt because i didnt have a priority badge. To which i just rolled my eyes and kept on trucking. Like i swear Otakon is too strict about fucking badges.

>>9143141
Yes. Its like its a good description so you wait in line to get in only to be severly disapponted and end up leaving like 10 minutes in. Then there are other ones thatd get approved and you're like "why?"

>>9143353
I am. Did anyone hear anything about the dates yet?

>> No.9143126 [View]

>>9143104
I'll probably go. I live in DC so if i cant manage to get a room ( which i would perfer) i'll hit the con up.

>>9143108
Yeah true, DC and Baltimore basically have the same exact weather.

>>9143116
I dont get the point in waiting in line for the dealers room, like ever. So im just chilling with friends until 10 minutes after it opens
