omg, you have no idea how good it feels to actually hear someone say I am not "twiggy". I am 5'9 and 112lbs, lol. This photo just makes me look a normal weight.

It is a Femme Fatal from Amphigory. An ex-boyfriend had left it at my place for me to style for him, we broke up and I kept the wig. One day I decided to just style it into a Nana wig.

not my "best", but definitely my most comfortable.

I actually used a strapless shapewear bodysuit that snaps in the crotch.Then added clear straps to it. The ivy was just glued on while I was wearing the bodysuit.

I actually made this the week prior to Free Comic Book day, and it need some major toucu-ups before I am really happy with it. It served it's intended purpose though.

That is not my kid, I do not have any kids. The photo was actually taken at Free Comic Book day this year, where I was working at a local shop all day in costume. I posed for a lot of photos with little kids.

you will probably have to trim like, a few cm off of the bottom of it before you actually attempt to straighten it in the hot water.

You will see some better results by doing this.

And yes, you pulled out huge amounts of wig hair because you used a normal brush on it.
fuck, I should really just make a tutorial sometime on how the hell I do this. I am kind of pissed, because I just straightened a horrendously frizzed out wig like 2 weeks ago, but did not think to take pictures.

alternatively, you can attach a wig head to a plastic two liter bottle (that is filled with something to make it sturdy). Place your wig on the wig head and secure it. Then pour the almost boiling water over the wig in sections. It may take a few treatments of this to straighten it.


Let the wig drip dry on the wig head, but if it is super long, you can remove it and hang up it, or lay it flat to dry.

this is completely fixable.


Just straighten it in hot water. Fill up your sink with the almost boiling water again, take your wig, and swish it around in the water *slowly* back and forth. You will almost instantly notice the fibers straighten out, and sort of flow through the water as you move it back and forth.

Take the wig out, and hang it on something that will allow it to drip dry. While it is hung up, you can run a WIDE toothed comb through it, only if you got it completely straightened out.

I usually do this to make sure there are no kinks that will dry in that position and make bizarre waves or curls.

also, I recommend using cheapo dollar store foam hair rollers for curling wigs.

Rinse your wig out, then with a comb, section off the hair in preparation for placing into a curler. small to medium sized claw clips will come in handy, to help keep your sectioned pieces separated until you place them into curlers.

After you get all of the damp sections up into foam curlers, blast them with a hair drier on a high setting and then with hairspray, then let it sit for a day or two. Before taking them out, blast it with the dryer once more.

When you take the curlers out, be careful with how you unroll them, and do not get too overly eager and take your time. They can sometimes tangle up if you rush the process.
